Style over 50 does not mean we have to play it safe. And it definitely doesn’t mean giving up the pieces that make us feel like ourselves.
Some days I want to look cute without doing the absolute most. Give me a good pair of jeans, a crisp white shirt and one statement piece, and we can build from there.
That’s exactly what I did with this look.
Start With a Simple Base
My starting point was simple: a white button-down shirt and a pair of jeans. Nothing complicated. These are the kinds of pieces most of us already have in our closets.
But simple does not have to mean boring.
Instead of adding a lot of different pieces, I added one statement accessory — a pair of green and red striped suspenders. That small addition immediately gave the outfit personality and made a basic white shirt and jeans feel styled.
That’s the trick: you don’t always need a whole new outfit. Sometimes you just need one piece that changes the outfit you already own.

One Statement Piece, Then the Finishing Touch
Then came the red blazer.
Same jeans. Same white shirt. Same suspenders. But adding one bold piece completely changed the energy of the outfit. The blazer pulled everything together and made a simple look feel polished, intentional and a little unexpected.
That’s what I love about statement pieces, especially at this stage of my life. I don’t need a closet full of complicated outfits. Give me great basics, one piece with personality, and I can make it work.
Style over 50 isn’t about dressing younger. It’s about knowing what works for you — and wearing it with confidence.

The Baddie Takeaway
Getting dressed doesn’t have to be complicated to look good. A great pair of jeans, a crisp white shirt and one statement piece can give you a completely different look.
For me, it was the suspenders. The red blazer simply took it one step further.
At this stage of life, I’m not interested in following every fashion rule or chasing every trend. I want pieces that make me feel good, let my personality show and work with what I already have in my closet.
That’s what style over 50 looks like to me: simple, confident, personal and never boring.
